Sheffield West City Learning Centre is now offering and delivering FITS training. FITS is Becta's Framework for ICT Technical Support (FITS). It is a collection of advice, templates and tools to help schools apply best practice ICT technical support.

FITS describes 10 processes that technical support should carry out to deliver high levels of reliability, availability and stability. FITS will also help technical teams give users the service they need to carry out their day-to-day responsibilities. FITS has been proven to enhance user satisfaction with ICT services.

In 2003 this CLC led the Sheffield part of the national pilot of FITS in English secondary schools. The pilot proved that taking this approach to ICT management results in tangible benefits for schools.

 Schools reported an improvement in the quality of support and in the levels of communication between users and technical teams. Schools were able to align technical support more closely to the school's educational priorities.

This CLC has been accredited to deliver the Becta workshops that support FITS. The training events offered by this CLC reflect the experience with FITS in schools that we have. If you want training where the advice given is rooted in what works and real world experience look no further. There are two training sessions offered.

Firstly, FITS Overview Workshop is a half day's training designed to inform members of a school’s Senior Management Team. It works through the benefits of implementing FITS by having a close look at the processes involved.

Second, FITS Expert Workshop is a full days training on how to implement FITS in a school. This will provide attendees with a good understanding of the FITS processes, help them prioritise where to begin an implementation and support them in drawing up an action plan for this process.

Additionally this CLC is working with Local Authorities to help them with the roll-out of FITS into their secondaries. If you work within a Local Authority and would like to know more please contact us.
