Supported by Sheffield West City Learning Centre, Myers Grove School are participating in the BBC School Report News Day 2007.
Here is the news report produced on 22nd March:
Here's what Elaine and Holly have to say...
Over the past couple of weeks we have been doing something called BBC news school report, which is a news report that shows children like us how to do interviews, presenting, editing, recording and the final piece goes on radio. It also gives kids like us a chance to see what journalism is like.
We were picked to do interviews, we really enjoyed it. We went up to Wisewood and interviewed the deputy headteacher, Ms Bloor about the merge of the two schools. On the way back to Myers we did some vox-pops. Vox-pops are when you just ask people one question instead of a whole interview!
But for the last two days of the project we have been running around like "headless chickens" getting stories and practising reading. But it was worth it!
We have really enjoyed our experience and so have our classmates. Josh and Nyall said: "it's been fun and we might be famous because we are on the radio".
It has been interesting learning about different things to do with journalism! We have also met some journalists, Leanne and Helen we have also met the lead editor, Mike.
Thank- you to everyone who picked us to do this!!!
We would also like to say a big thanks to Julia and Sarah who work in the CLC, they have been a big help!!!
